[…] Here we have one of our very favorite bikes with fairings:  Analog Motorcycles 1949 Indian Scout. It has a Frame Crafters custom frame, and the fairings, seat, and tank are all-aluminum, shaped by Pavletic Metal Shaping, and the engine was built by Bill Bailey of ZyZX Vintage Motorcycles. The windshield is actually a modified GSX-R unit, and the forks are by Betor.  At the time of this writing, the bike is actually for sale. You can see more details here:  “Continental Scout” […]

[…] When I hear « Indian Scout », I can’t stop thinking of Burt Munro and those crazy folks riding a (close to) a hundred years old bike on a wall of death. During the post WWII era, Indian was suffocating. This 1949 440cc parallel twin was one of the last breath for Indian before its death in 1953. At the time, there were only three model in the Indian line-up : the 220cc single cylinder Arrow, this 440cc twin Scout and the big 1200cc V-twin Chief. The Scout failed stoping the British invasion of lightweights BSA and Triumph. Moreover, the scout was unreliable (according to the AMA motorcycles Hall of Fame) and the devalued British pound made the rivals even cheaper. If Bonhams agrees concerning the role of the devalued British Pound in the downfall of Indian Motorcycles Company, they also write that the vertical twin was « visionary » and « weren’t really frail in the hands of regular riders ». For this race inspired version, Analog’s Tony Prust use a Trackmaster style frame made by Frame Crafter. The aluminium fairing were designed by Tony and crafted by Pavletic Metal Shaping. We would rather not share that information as we feel it is the buyer’s choice to share, not ours. I can say that given the huge amount of hours invested in this build, the buyer got a great deal – we think! We do not make copies of bikes, but if you would like us to create your very own custom build visit our ‘build inquiry’ section to find out how we can do that.
